A new iteration of Aristocrat Gaming’s beloved Dragon Link slot machines has arrived at the Venetian Las Vegas, potentially changing the lives of some fortunate bettors. The Australia-based gaming device maker announced today that the first Dragon Link slots with a staggering $2 million maximum jackpot have debuted at the Venetian and the Palazzo. Both casinos on the Las Vegas Strip already offer versions of the game with a $1 million jackpot.
Players at both properties can now enjoy Dragon Link Genghis Khan™ and Dragon Link Peace and Long Life™, both showcased on the MarsX™ Upright cabinet by Aristocrat Gaming, according to a company statement.
As expected, the $2 million Dragon Link machines will be housed in high-limit areas, joining their $1 million counterparts. At the Venetian, these slots will reside in the High-Limit Slots Salon, while at the Palazzo, they will be found in the high-limit gaming lounge. Versions of the game with lower maximum jackpots will remain on the main floors of the two casinos.
Although slot jackpots can offer lottery-sized payouts, the financial commitment to chasing such big wins is substantially steeper. Las Vegas and other casino markets are replete with stories of bettors hitting significant paydays on slot machines for minimal amounts. However, machines with massive payout potential, such as Dragon Link, often come with high costs of admission. Earlier this year, a Caesars Palace Las Vegas patron won $165,000 and then $545,000 on a Dragon Link machine, but each of their spins cost $2,500.
In contrast, most state lottery tickets are priced at just $1, with Mega Millions and Powerball entries costing $2 each. Mega Millions tickets are set to increase to $5 next April. Aristocrat’s announcement did not specify the cost of maximum credit bets for the $2 million Dragon Link slots, but considering the potential payouts and the machines’ placement in high-limit rooms, it can be inferred that each play will come with a steep price tag.
Dragon Link has gained significant star power in the gaming world. While likening inanimate objects to celebrities might seem far-fetched, some achieve that status—think Apple’s iPhone and other popular consumer electronics. In the realm of slot machines, Dragon Link has achieved a comparable level of acclaim and popularity. It commands a devoted following among bettors and has even spurred competition from rivals, although some have been sidetracked by legal issues.
“Dragon Link is one of the most popular and award-winning slot games in the world. Most recently, the game was named the Top Performing Proprietary Branded Game in the 2023 EKG Awards,” the Aristocrat statement added.
