The calendar may just be hitting the summer months, but Las Vegas is already brimming with anticipation for Labor Day. Acclaimed rapper Nas recently put the city on high alert by announcing a series of three show-stopping performances at the luxurious Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. To herald the 30th year of his iconic album “Illmatic,” Nas will be collaborating with the renowned Las Vegas Philharmonic on the performances slated for August 29th and 31st, and September 1st.

Nas had originally carved out a performance slot in Las Vegas at the ill-starred Lovers & Friends Festival, which was abruptly canceled in May. His expectations for this upcoming performance grew abundantly clear in his statement. “Las Vegas has always served as a creative outlet for my music, and these performances will take that to the next level,” Nas expressed his exhilaration about partnering with the Las Vegas Philharmonic and a chance to present his music in an innovative manner to his fans.

Intertwining the pulse of rap with the gravity of orchestral symphony, these shows promise to offer something truly unique. Tickets begin at $69.95 and will be released for purchase from 10 a.m. on Friday, May 24th, through Ticketmaster.

As the city gears up for the Labor Day spectacle, headlining news comes from Eddie Vedder, Pearl Jam’s frontman, for a biting commentary targeted at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker. His criticism was based on a commencement speech Butker delivered at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas on May 11th. Vedder assailed Butker for his dismissive remarks on Pride Month and his sexist views on the role of women. Vedder’s scathing rebuttal met with rapturous applause from his audience at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

In other news, Lenny Kravitz is booking his place on Vegas’s marquee for the fall with a limited mini-residency at the Park MGM, optimistically titled “Blue Electric Light.” The engagement coincides with the release of his 12th studio album and comprises of five performances stretching from October 18th to October 26th at Dolby Live. Kravitz fans, Live Nation members, Ticketmaster customers and MGM Rewards participants can avail of early access to presale tickets starting May 22nd and May 23rd, with general ticket sales starting May 24th.
