Mom Stephanie Koury and community activist and founder of West Island Blog, Rhonda Massad, have joined forces to create the Neighbours for Neighbours food drive in the fight against hidden local hunger.
This journey began when Stephanie Koury wanted to teach her 3-year-old son about giving to people less fortunate in their community and mentioned it to her friend Rhonda Massad who is actively involved in our community. Rhonda’s drive came from learning about the thousands of families in need through her work as a journalist. The initiative has now snowballed into an event shared countless times on Facebook under the event page Neighbours for Neighbours Food Drive and has gathered support from local businesses and sponsored by Desjardins, McDonalds, and West Island Blog. The food collected will benefit the over 2000 West Island people who visit food banks each month.
How can you help? Please bring non-perishable food items to the Food Drive on November 4, between 9 am and 3 pm to Provigo Le Marché Kirkland located at 16900, aut. Transcanada
Kirkland, QC H9H 4M7. All donated food items will be shared amongst food banks on the West Island – West Island Mission, West Island Assistance Fund and On Rock Community Services, Sainte Anne’s Food Bank, John Abbott College Food Bank.
We’d love it if you could print up this poster with all the details and post it at work, in your neighbourhood and get the word out. Share this page on social media- click the share links below.
