Jonathan Huberdeau led the Calgary Flames to a 3-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night by scoring twice. The win handed the Sharks their seventh consecutive loss. In addition to Huberdeau’s performance, Mikael Backlund added another goal for the Flames, while Nazem Kadri provided two assists. Goalie Dustin Wolf contributed significantly with 21 saves.
San Jose’s only goal came from Macklin Celebrini, marking his 12th of the season, supported by 30 saves from Yaroslav Askarov. Despite a resilient performance, the Sharks are struggling with a 0-6-1 record in their last seven games, extending to 1-9-1 over the last eleven.
Backlund’s power-play goal at 6:50 into the second period put Calgary ahead 2-1, contributing to his recent streak of five points in five games. Huberdeau sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, his team-leading 15th of the season, as the match concluded. The Flames, fresh off a well-rested period since their last game against Chicago, capitalized against a fatigued Sharks team, which had played Vegas only the day before.
Looking forward, the Calgary Flames will travel to play the Vegas team on Sunday, while the Sharks prepare to host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
