Two individuals in their twenties sustained injuries after their vehicle collided with a freight train in Longueuil, Quebec, located on Montreal’s South Shore, earlier this morning. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. at a level crossing with a Canadian National train. Longueuil police reported that the driver initially fled the scene, leaving the passenger at the crash site. However, the driver later returned and was subsequently arrested for impaired driving and leaving the scene of an accident. Police spokesperson Mélanie Mercille confirmed the driver’s arrest. Despite being injured, both individuals are expected to survive. Authorities have requested the public to steer clear of Guimond Boulevard and de la Métropole Street due to road closures necessary for the ongoing investigation.
