Mystery in Winnipeg: Who Is Behind the Sinister Discovery of Deceased Pets Under the Bridge?

Police in Winnipeg are conducting an investigation following the disturbing discovery of six deceased cats found in the city’s Crestview area over a month-long period. The bodies, discovered on three separate occasions from December 8th to 30th, were located beneath the Summit Road bridge, north of Saskatchewan Avenue. Local residents who frequent the area reported the finds.

Authorities have noted that the animals showed signs of foul play. Some were placed in shopping bags, while others were left openly on the path, indicating they were deliberately left in such conditions. A number of the cats have been identified as pets, and police are currently working to connect them to their owners.

Constable Dani McKinnon expressed her dismay at the situation, saying, “It’s quite a horrible scenario, and understandably upsetting for the potential owners of these animals, as well as those who have come across them.”

The Winnipeg Humane Society has reported additional incidents of animal deaths in the vicinity, stretching back to November. Their director of investigations and emergency response, Andrew Clarke, mentioned that other cats and at least one dog have been found. Clarke noted an apparent increase in such activity within Winnipeg.

Similar incidents were reported in the Point Douglas area in September, though authorities have yet to establish a connection between these events. No suspects have been identified at this time. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers. The Winnipeg Humane Society also requests that witnesses of suspicious activity involving animals reach out to them.
