Two bodies were discovered Tuesday morning inside a submerged vehicle in Moncton, as confirmed by a New Brunswick fire official. The vehicle was reported to the Moncton Fire Department around 9:20 a.m., after receding tides revealed its location in Halls Creek. Brian McDonald, Platoon Chief of the Moncton Fire Department, stated that water and technical rescue teams navigated across the rushing water to inspect the vehicle’s interior. After confirming the occupants were deceased, efforts focused on recovering the car.
The vehicle was located deep within the creek, and icy shorelines complicated access. The RCMP deployed a drone to scan the riverbanks to ensure there were no additional victims. Further details are awaited as Global News has contacted the Codiac RCMP for more information.
