Mother and Daughter Turn their Passion into a Business in the Beaurepaire Village

I was delighted to hear that a new café opened in the Beaurepaire Village. When I first moved to Beaconsfield in 1997 I frequented Boulangerie Ourson de Miel which was located in the heart of the village.  The café is long gone, but 15 years later there are some new kids on the block that are breathing new life into our quaint village. Turns out the owners are not new to the area and were born and raised in Beaurepaire.

Mother and daughter team Dierdre and Mackenzie Manitt ARE the Miss Manitts! When you enter into the café you are greeted with warmth and love.  Laughter infuses the café and there is always a story to tell. Deirdre offers smiles and kind words and is sensitive to her customer’s needs.Mother Daughter team She knows our favourite table and even suggested we call to reserve in advance if we wanted our window seat! Mackenzie is a graduate of culinary school and has her pastry degree. Her youthful enthusiasm is evident and she is open to new ideas and customer feedback. Deirdre has always been an exceptional home baker. It was always Cathie Manitt’s dream (Mackenzie’s Grandmother and Deirdre’s Mother) that Mackenzie and Deirdre open up a café / bakery together. From family recipes passed down from generation to generation, to ones of their own, the Manitts creations will surely satisfy your cravings.

The lunch counter concept of the café is inviting and casual. It is perfect for a morning coffee/pastry or a light lunch. You can take-out if you are rushing to work or take a seat and eat in. They also offer soups and pies for take-out.

I am a huge scone fan and have long been in search of the best one in Montreal. Mackenzie has tested many varieties and has created a cranberry maple scone that has become their signature scone. The taste and texture are exquisite…I highly recommend it!Scones

We have lunched at Miss Manitts on several occasions. My favourite sandwich is the veggie wrap with home-made hummus. It literally melts in your mouth and is a delicious vegetarian option.  My daughter loves the roast beef sandwich which was stacked high and very tasty.

Since I am on a mission towards optimum health, I like to have healthy options when going out to eat. Many of their products are locally grown and they only use the freshest ingredients. My new favourite breakfast is their whole grain toast with honey and organic/fair trade coffee. They also make cappuccino with almond milk as a vegan option.
