In the heart of the city, tucked away in a sprawling studio near the thrumming pulse of downtown Los Angeles, a unique and unexpected gathering is taking shape. The vibrant energy of musical legends Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, and Ciara ignite the 24,000 square-foot space as they gear up to announce a surprising summer tour that has fans buzzing with anticipation and delight.

This out-of-the-box tour, aptly named the “Out of This World – The Missy Elliott Experience”, will mark an important milestone as Elliott’s inaugural headlining arena tour, for which she’s sharing the limelight with Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and renowned producer extraordinaire, Timbaland.

With a soft-spoken laugh, Elliott admits she was taken aback by the realization of never having headlined her own tour before, adding a playful anecdote about her last major tour in 2004 which happened to be consistent dates alongside singing powerhouses Beyoncé and Alicia Keys.

Some would say this headlining tour is decidedly overdue, but the timing couldn’t feel more flawless. Over the years, Elliott’s forward-thinking, trendsetting artist persona has received industry recognition and immense acclaim for her prodigious talents as a musician, producer and songwriter.

Since 2019, Missy Elliott’s captivating career has been punctuated by a series of hard-earned accolades. She broke barriers as the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, earned the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards and had a star dedicated to her on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her hometown, Portsmouth, Virginia, even named a boulevard in her honor, and to top off the sequence of recognitions, in 2022, Elliott found herself being the first female hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In an intimate conversation, Busta Rhymes reveals that the concept of a tour never surfaced during their decades-long friendship and professional collaboration with Elliott. Yet, the true essence of an artist that is Missy Elliott, her unbending will to uphold the quality of her work, even if that meant turning down a multi-million dollar performance, is what makes her a significant figure in the music industry.

This tour isn’t solely a trip down memory lane. It celebrates the collective individual growth and the bond that has united these artists for over 30 years. It’s about family, shared experiences, long-standing camaraderie, and their journey to achieving creative fulfillment.

Throughout the announcement, the trio, impeccably styled in all-black, dress by June Ambrose, strikes both group and individual poses, oozing a magnetic aura reminiscent of a blend between stylish Avengers and hip-hop legends.

A teary Ciara, massive fan and dear friend of Elliott, eloquently speaks about the latter’s profound impact on her life and career, as an artist and a relentless beacon of truth. However, Ciara playfully stops short of revealing any specifics of future on-stage collaborations during the tour.

The “Out Of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience” will make its debut in Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 4th at the Rogers Arena. It promises not just a concert, but an immersive experience that will journey through music videos and bring back memories on stage. Fans can look forward to feeling memories come alive in vibrant color and exuberant sound, drawn in by the irresistible allure of their favorite hits – beautifully wrapped in a film of nostalgia and excitement.

The tour will span several cities such as Seattle, Oakland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Austin, Houston, Fort Worth, Tampa, Sunrise, Atlanta, Baltimore, Hampton, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Newark, Boston, Brooklyn, Detroit, Montreal, and Toronto, eventually closing its curtains in Rosemont, Illinois, at Allstate Arena on August 22nd.

Co-produced by Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Entertainment and Live Nation, presale tickets are scheduled to be up starting tomorrow while the public sale opens on Friday, setting the stage for what is expected to be a headlining tour for the ages.
