Medtronic Foundation Donates $100,000 USD to NOVA West Island

NOVA West Island is honoured to announce that they have received a $100,000 USD grant from the Medtronic Foundation in recognition of their continued commitment and joint mission to expand and improve access to quality healthcare for the underserved communities.

The organization was recommended for the second time by the company’s manufacturing facility, Medtronic CryoCath, located in Pointe-Claire, Québec. “It is extremely gratifying to have a partner in the Medtronic Foundation whose support is crucial in fulfilling our mission of providing in-home palliative care and support to the residents of our community. We owe them a great deal of thanks for their role in NOVA’s story”, as per Tom Thompson, NOVA’s President of the Board.

For the next two years, these funds will help NOVA West Island to pursue their primary mandate by allowing their nurses to provide specialized home care and support to cancer and ALS clients and their families particularly in the palliative stage, as well as volunteer drivers who transport patients to their oncology appointments/treatments. According to Marie-France Juneau, Nova’s Executive Director: “Last year alone, we cared for 1,380 people through our different programs, not to mention the impact we have on the caregivers, the public health care system and the community at large.”
