Masked Gunmen Rob Hanover Home, Spark High-Speed Chase

Earlier this month, a peaceful evening in Hanover was shattered by a violent episode of crime. An armed home invasion was swiftly followed by a high-speed car chase, and lethal gunshots piercing through the otherwise silent streets.

The Hanover Police Department informed that on the night of October 15, three masked individuals reportedly forced entry into a residential property on 11th Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. The innocent residents were held at gunpoint, their premises ransacked and belongings stolen by the invaders.

In the aftermath of the robbery, the perpetrators made a hasty escape in a white SUV, orchestrated by a fourth accomplice. One courageous victim chose to not be just a silent bystander and dove into action, chasing the criminals in their vehicle.

The audacity of the pursuit resulted in the SUV heading southbound on 18th Avenue near John Diefenbaker Secondary School. One of the criminals fired gunshots at the daring pursuer, according to police reports.

Investigators assigned to the case are leaning towards the probable cause that the household and its residents were intentionally targeted by the perpetrators. The incident, thankfully, did not result in any physical harm to the victims.

Hanover’s Police Chief, Christopher Knoll, has expressed concern over the incident. “This armed robbery is deeply troubling not only for our community but the entire Grey Bruce region. Even though they are rare, no small, rural community is off-limits to such acts of violence.”

Residents with any significant information about the suspects or evidence that could be useful, such as surveillance footage or dash cam records of the chase, are encouraged to reach out to the Hanover police investigators for the greater good of the community.
