I love an open farmers market. Makes me feel connected to mother nature and all she has to offer, especially in the summer. I frequent Jean Talon Market all year long and have since I was a little girl with my grandmother. My Tete and I would seek out the best zucchini for Koosa and smell the tomatoes before considering a purchase. She would bargain fiercely.
I am not a fan of the West Island Market on Sources because over the years the prices have gone up and there is really only one outside vendor. I like a selection of vendors and I feel the competition keeps things fresh and fairly prices. So I drive when I want fresh summer produce.
Last year I was introduced to Marché de Jardiniers in La Prairie. It is about 40 mins from the West Island, I like to take highway 30, the scenery is stunning.
This market is filled with local vendors selling everything from veggies to sausages. I eat the whole time I am there. Fresh breads, cheeses and cooked corn were served up for customers. A picture says a thousand words and in this case the carousel of pictures I have included above can give you the best idea of what to expect.
