
MUNICIPAL ELECTION
At the stroke of midnight tonight posters, flyers and banners will start to show up in residential areas across the West Island to mark the official start of the Elections 2017.
On November 5, 2017, the citizens of the West Island will elect new councils in their municipalities that will serve a for a four-year term. Your municipality is divided into electoral districts and voters will be asked to elect a Mayor and also a councillor for the district in which they reside. A number of districts depend on the population of your city.
To be able to exercise the right to vote on November 5th, you must ensure that your name is entered on the electoral list, which will be filed on or before October 6, 2017, and revised October 17 and 18, 2017.
A notice of revision of the electoral list will be mailed to you prior to the period designated for the revision of the electoral list. If you find any errors or omissions in the names or the address on the notice of revision, you may appear in front of the Board of Revisors and make an application for entries, corrections or strike-offs to the electoral list.
