A recent drawing of Lotto-Max, held on October 6, placed a fortune of $50 million in Richer’s lap. His winning escapade commenced during a pre-Thanksgiving dinner shopping spree with his daughter at a Super C store, located on Champlain Boulevard in Montreal.
Richer romanticizes acquiring a residence in Montreal’s scenic suburbs with his impending wealth. “Our intention is to invest in a house and a car. That pretty sums it all up. Then, they would head out for a vacation. Although I’m not a vacation enthusiast, I would encourage them to indulge in one,” Richer shared on a Thursday.
A seasoned catering company driver, Richer, now in his 60s, has maintained an unyielding dedication to his profession for the past 40 years. Despite his newfound financial freedom, Richer insists on keeping his retirment plans on hold. “To leave my team wrestling with potential difficulties in the dark is something I cannot condone. The shipping department would flounder in my absence”, he insists.
His winning streak was officiated with his ticket bearing the numbers 04, 17, 20, 23, 25, 27, 41 and a bonus number 07.
Super C, the venue of the winning ticket purchase, is set to receive a whopping $500,000, a one per cent commission from the windfall. “A jubilant celebration involving all our esteemed employees is on the cards,” reported Maryse Lafortune, a specialist at Super C.
While Richer relishes his victorious stride, an unclaimed $2-million Quebec 49 draw buzzes somewhere in the province. Isabelle Racicot, a spokesperson for Loto-Quebec, propounds, “Examine your lottery ticket! There could be an oblivious millionaire roaming among us.”
