Londoner Grand Marks Marriott’s First Luxury Collection Hotel in Macau

Sands China and Marriott International announced today the introduction of the Londoner Grand concept to Sands China’s London Macau casino resort. This marks the first Marriott Luxury Collection hotel in Macau. Formerly known as Sands Cotai Central, the $2 billion Londoner has been revitalized with a British-inspired design and opened in early 2021. Londoner Grand will feature 2,405 guestrooms and a diverse selection of dining options.

The Londoner Grand will enhance The Londoner Macao’s dining portfolio with five distinctive concepts: Hampton Court, offering an international and Chinese buffet; Chelsea Garden, an all-day dining outlet featuring a wide array of local and regional Chinese dishes in a garden-themed environment with show kitchens; and The Conservatory, which will include a dim sum restaurant and tearoom, a confectionery store, and a British pub bar.

Sands China, a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands, has quickly gained recognition with the Londoner. The venue was listed on the 2023 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List, making it the only hotel in Macau to achieve the “China Top 10 Hotels” designation by the publication. This is notable given that many Macau hotels boast four- and five-star ratings and cater to high-end clientele. The Londoner’s swift rise suggests it is a fitting addition to Marriott’s Luxury Collection, which includes just 124 hotels globally, with 36 in the Asia-Pacific region and only five in China.

The Londoner Grand is set to become a standout in the Marriott Luxury Collection, potentially enhancing the reputation of The Londoner. Paired with the Parisian Macau and Venetian Macau, it completes Sands China’s integrated resort city.

“Londoner Grand is poised to become a signature development in the Luxury Group by Marriott International’s portfolio and a landmark in Macao, offering an unmatched blend of local authenticity, bespoke programming, and impeccable service that will attract more overseas visitors to the city and expand culinary and experiential options for the local community,” said the press release.

This venture marks the second collaboration between Marriott Luxury Collection and a casino hotel, with the Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip also being part of this exclusive group. The Bellagio is operated by MGM Resorts International, which shares an extensive points-sharing agreement with Marriott.

In North America, just 20 hotels are part of the Marriott Luxury Collection, all located in the US, with eight in the Pacific time zone and one in Hawaii.
