I met Myra Ouwendyk from Final Touch Solutions at one of my favorite We2 networking events at a time when I knew I needed to organize my home office. I had been putting it off and putting off. It was just too daunting and felt like a huge task that I did not have the energy with so many fun things going on. Her smiling face and confidence gave me the push I needed to hire her and get this item off my to do list.
I believe having a clean, organized office is the first step to being the best I can be for my clients. After all, how will you be able to work if all your papers are scattered around? Even more so, you’ll have trouble locating your papers and folders if things are disorganized.
According to Myra, by organizing your files and folders, you’ll not only get a clearer picture of what needs to be accomplished, but you will feel better too. Not to mention the business as a whole will thrive. Myra suggested bins and folders to categorize and contain loose items such as my constant incoming business cards that have become another “project” to take care of. I already had a bin for my filing, so I was one step ahead of getting to the desired outcome.
The first thing Myra noticed was that I had too much furniture in the office. We managed to go purge enough that by the end of her visit we were down two pieces of furniture. That made room for……well……air. I am an artist as well as a writer, so I have my easel set up in my office as well. Less furniture meant more room for my art supplies and paints.
Having Myra hold my hand through this process gave me the direction I needed to do obvious things like put the printer paper closer to the printer. Over time I had moved my printer to a new location and did not take the time to relocate the paper. These kinds of things will make me more efficient.
Myra describes her mandate as bringing peace and harmony to people’s lives. That is exactly what she did. She harmonized my office after helping me purge unnecessary clutter in my work space. It was a breath of fresh air, thank you, Myra!!
