Yesterday, in an email sent to all parents, the Lester B. Pearson School Board, shared a letter from the Regional Director of Public Health regarding the coronavirus “assuring us that the overall risk remains low and that measures are being taken at various levels to prevent the spread of the virus in the event that the coronavirus is detected in Québec.”

In this letter, Public Health provides a situation update of the coronavirus, as well as an overview of symptoms. “There is currently only one case in Canada and no cases in Québec. The overall risk for Canadians remains low.”

Both Public Health and LBPSB remind parents of basic respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette, stating that “the risk of spreading infections can be reduced through frequent hand-washing, covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing or keeping your child home when ill.”
