Youth Stars will be launching their Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) anti-bullying tour at Beechwood Elementary School on January 17th, 2020. The launch event will debut its Youth Stars Anti-Bullying Club initiative along with its recently revamped and entertaining anti-bullying show.

The goal of the tour is to create anti-bullying awareness amongst youth, educate them on dealing with it and where to get help. Youth Stars’ mandate is to appeal to both the victims and the bullies and to promote the Kids Help Phone line.

Tour Dedication Devan Bracci-Selvey

This year the tour will be dedicated to Devan Bracci-Selvey who died this year as a victim of bullying. The show will include a moment of silence in his memory and a speech about who he was.

The event will be hosted by TV personality DJ Malik who will be talking about bullying prevention and solutions. In order to capture the attention of today’s youth, DJ Malik Shaheed will be DJ’ing and MC’ing to combine fun, hype and interaction as a gateway to education and awareness.

We also encourage students to participate by presenting their own speech or poem about antibullying at the event.

Youth Stars Anti-Bullying Club

Current studies indicate the importance of maintaining ongoing discussions amongst youth as well as with their trusted adult figures about bullying. It is for that reason Youth Stars has begun implementing Anti-Bullying Clubs in schools. Having a student-run Anti-Bullying club facilitates long-term awareness and nurtures a safe haven for open communication (Led by youth, for youth).

The initiative involves empowering youth to act as leaders in their schools. A selected teacher/staff member will oversee the club, in liaison with Youth Stars, so that the club can run throughout the school year, in a manner that suits the school’s scheduling.
