A student from a Las Vegas high school had over a dozen intense encounters with a teaching assistant employed at his school, according to local police. The woman, Jerusalem Garcia, 20, faces charges of contacting or attempting to contact a minor for sex, as revealed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Romantic meetings between Garcia and the student reportedly took place at various locations, including Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall and the Galleria Mall. Police reports indicate that while they did not engage in sexual intercourse, the pair shared intimate moments that involved cuddling and kissing, often in a bed. It remains unclear whether they officially checked into Sam’s Town or simply lingered in its secluded sections.
Police records detail that Garcia admitted being aroused by the boy who, in turn, would seductively grab her buttocks. Despite feeling urges for sexual intercourse, Garcia refrained due to the boy’s age, described as being in his teens.
Their relationship began after meeting at a party on May 26, followed by exchanges of intimate messages on Instagram, with declarations such as “I love you,” “I’m scared of the relationship,” and “I’ll stick with you forever.” Their series of dates spanned from an initial outing at the Galleria Mall in June to the final encounter at Sam’s Town.
Garcia asserted to the police that it was a “loving relationship.” Nevertheless, she was detained on August 23 and placed on leave from the school district following her inappropriate contact with the student. The student, who remained unidentified, attended Eldorado High School and was brought into the situation’s spotlight after his ex-girlfriend alerted authorities, as reported by Las Vegas TV station KLAS.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the boy, who likely has access to a car given that he drove Garcia to their meeting spots, appears to be at least 16 years old. However, his specific age remains undisclosed by LVMPD officers. Garcia is scheduled to appear in court on September 30 after posting bond.
