On March 30, La Ronde released a statement advising their guests that the park will have a delayed opening for the 2020 season. La Ronde says that the postponement is to ensure the safety of their guests and team members with the current circumstances. The theme park was expected to open in May.
La Ronde also confirmed Monday that there have been NO reported cases of COVID-19 at the property.
If you are a current 2020 Season Pass Holder, you will get one free day pass for the 2021 season for each day that the park remains closed this year. They will also be “providing bonus free friend days and special benefits” to members when the park re-opens. Admission prices are not expected to increase due to the delayed opening.
Thrill-seekers expressed disappointment and understanding on Facebook, saying they appreciate the park’s decisions but will miss visiting the park.
The following is a message from Six Flags CEO Mike Spanos:
“Dear Valued Guests,
The top priority at Six Flags is the safety and well-being of our guests and team members. We continue to monitor and follow the guidance of federal, state, and local officials regarding COVID-19. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we all work through this challenging situation.
At this time, shelter-in-place mandates are in effect throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico; therefore, we are delaying the opening for La Ronde in Montreal, Quebec. This situation remains fluid. We will adjust as circumstances evolve and communicate to you any changes in our operating status.
We remain committed to providing you and your family with a friendly, clean, fast, and safe experience, and we look forward to welcoming you back into our parks very soon.
For additional information about COVID-19, please read the latest report from the Public Health Agency of Canada at www.canada.ca/en/public-health.html, or your local health department website.
On behalf of everyone at Six Flags, thank you for your trust in us.”
