Mayor Michel Gibson, with municipal council, and employees, welcomed 100 citizens in attendance for the official launch of the brand new Harris Park splash pad.
The splash pad is the first of its kind in Kirkland that will offer the neighborhood a safe haven for the children.
“The budget for this project was committed in 2013. Parents asked if they needed to drive as far as Vaudreuil to use the nearest splash pad” said Gibson.
The demographics suggested that a high percentage of young families around Harris Park will benefit from this water works.
We will look at expanding additional splash pads to other parks depending on the success of Harris Park,” Gibson told The Suburban.
The splash pad operates between 8a.m.-8:30pm, and is open to citizens around the West Island.
