Kevin Butterfill, age 29, is in need of a life-saving Bone Marrow Stem Cell Transplant so that he can go on to make a lifetime of memories with his family and friends; and finally marry the love of his life Natasha Gomes!
This event is intended to recruit as many new people as possible to the donor pool, in hopes that one of them will be his match! They are currently looking for his match and hope to do the transplant in March of this year.
With that said it is important to stress that by signing up for this program you must be willing to donate to anyone who needs a match. We are doing this drive in honour of Kevin, but there are many other people out there who need a match just as urgently. While you might not be a match to him, you could help someone else!
We will be setting up on the upper floor of Provigo Le Marche where the gym was. HEMA Quebec will be there to give out information about the donor program, they will also be able to answer any questions and concerns you might have.
We will have computers set up to help everyone register for their swabbing kits to be delivered in the mail. The kits usually arrive within a couple of days, then you simply swab your cheek and send your kit back to HEMA in the package they supply.
All it takes is a simple cheek swab for you to make a difference and become someones hero. Donors must be between the ages of 17 and 35, and be in good general health to register.
