A couple from Nova Scotia attended the YQM Festival in Dieppe last weekend and returned home on Sunday with unforgettable memories and an extraordinary memento. Dustin Reaney and Savanna Fougere are still soaring after witnessing a live performance by Keith Urban on Friday evening.

Reaney questions the reality of the magical occurrence, saying, “I keep revisiting the event in my mind, did it actually transpire? I almost expect to awaken from some dream.”

The remarkable occurrence was about the couple hailing from Lower Sackville, N.S. They experienced the gender reveal of their first born by no other than Keith Urban himself, all happening during his live performance before a massive crowd surpassing 20,000 fans.

Inspiration for this unique idea struck a few weeks prior at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. They conceived a sign, festooned with lights, and brought it with them to the anticipated three-day event in New Brunswick. Through the assistance of their cohort, alongside newfound acquaintances in the VIP section, they caught Urban’s attention amidst his melody.

Fougere shared, “As Keith Urban was mesmerizing the crowd with his song, he noticed our sign and subtly acknowledged us. After completing his song, he approached and conveyed, this youthful couple intends to conduct a gender reveal, and honestly, I can’t recall much beyond that point due to the overwhelming shock.”

Their friend, Justin MacNeil, managed to capture this moment on video. With interest, Urban inquired about the couple’s well-being before asking, “Is this the actual reveal; is this the moment? This is impressive, let’s begin. It’s a boy!” Adding further magic to this momentous occasion, upon Fougere’s request, Urban not only autographed the sign, but also his guitar, which he subsequently handed to Reaney.

The couple expressed that while they would’ve been excited if any of the headline features undertook the reveal, having Urban as the one made it extra special for Reaney. “To be truthful, I’m ecstatic that it was Keith Urban who did it, as I had previously seen his performance in 2008 at the Commons in Halifax. He truly plays to his fans,” Reaney professed.

While uncertain initially about knowing the baby’s gender, Fougere said, “The prospect of a country artist, to whom I’ve grown up listening, revealing the gender was indeed appealing. We took our chances with a sign and indeed, our efforts paid off.”

A cherished memento, a gender reveal by a superstar, and a once-in-a-lifetime weekend, it’s an experience they’ll always remember. As for the signed guitar, Reaney has no intentions of parting with it. He declared, “This is out of the question. It’s going to form part of our family heirloom.”
