Pointe-Claire’s first half-marathon will be held on Saturday, June 18, along a varied route that will be enjoyed by all running enthusiasts.

“We hope many residents will participate,” says Mayor Trudeau. “This sports event is intended for both high-level athletes and active families. It’s an opportunity to move, meet new people, and discover new places – at the same time as you’re taking care of yourself and supporting a good cause.”

Profits from the event will be donated to the Montreal area Alzheimer Society to fund various programs supporting people with Alzheimer’s as well as their informal caregivers, family, and friends.

Runs of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 21 kilometres are planned for runners of all levels. The half-marathon starts in Pointe-Claire Village on Du Bord-du-Lac – Lakeshore Road. Routes are varied and interesting, taking runners along streets and bike paths, through tunnels and parks, and along the shores of Lake Saint-Louis. Each run ends in Pointe-Claire Village where people can discover the shops, have a cup of coffee, relax near the water, enjoy a picnic in the park, or watch the world go by at a terrasse.

Prizes will be awarded to the first three female and the first three male runners in each race. There will also be participation prizes for all, and young children will enjoy playing in the inflatable games area throughout the event.

“Join us on Saturday, June 18, to support a great cause,” says the mayor. “Runners of all levels will enjoy this event. It’s also a great opportunity to discover Pointe-Claire Village and its many attractions.”

Pointe-Claire residents who sign up for the event are eligible for a 25% discount. To obtain your discount, write to info@demimarathonpointeclaire.com. For more information and to sign up, go to www.demimarathonpointeclaire.com.
