Do enough country music fans flock to Las Vegas every weekend to ensure Jason Aldean’s new Southern restaurant and honky-tonk is as successful as Blake Shelton’s almost identical Ole Red across the Strip? TC Restaurant Group, the corporation behind Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Bar, certainly hopes so. The new establishment is set to open on Monday, Dec. 2 at 63 CityCenter, just south of the Cosmopolitan.
The venue, spanning two stories, will feature two music stages, six bars, and one outdoor terrace within a 22,500-square-foot space. This setup is remarkably similar to Ole Red, which boasts two music stages and an outdoor terrace but edges out Aldean’s venue in total area by 4,500 square feet.
“I’ve always loved Las Vegas because it’s unique and has an energy like nowhere else,” Aldean commented in a prepared statement that conspicuously omits any reference to Ole Red. “People are ready to have a good time and celebrate. I want this to be a spot where people come to kick back, enjoy great music, awesome food, and create good memories.”
This will be Aldean’s fourth restaurant location, joining its predecessors in Nashville, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Aldean’s Southern-inspired menu includes Grandma’s Pot Roast and Mama Aldean’s Peach Cobbler. “This menu is personal to me,” Aldean noted. “My mom was an amazing cook and there’s no way I could open this place without her food, such as her peach cobbler.”
Interestingly, Ole Red’s menu currently lacks items inspired by Blake Shelton’s own family recipes, but that might change soon.
Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Bar will open daily at 10 a.m. and will close late Thursday through Saturday.
In related dining news, Treasure Island will soon bid farewell to Señor Frog’s and Las Vegas Yacht Club, as their spaces are now being advertised for lease. This move was reported by Casino.org’s own Vital Vegas blogger Scott Roeben. While Señor Frog’s is widely known, Las Vegas Yacht Club did not leave a mark since its opening last November in the old Seafood Shack space.
Downtown’s Neonopolis will soon welcome the Hush Puppy, replacing the former Banger Brewing Company by early next year. This Southern comfort restaurant, established in 1975 on Vegas’ Westside, will offer dishes like jumbalaya, catfish, and, unsurprisingly, hush puppies. Located next to Heart Attack Grill, this addition establishes Neonopolis as a center for indulgent dining.
Furthermore, Horseshoe is set to introduce Chilangos Tacos, as revealed by permit sleuthing from the “Five Hundy by Midnight” podcast. Chilangos Tacos is a small chain founded by chef Joel Mendoza, with six locations in Texas and Nashville. “Chilango” is Mexican slang for a Mexico City native, indicative of Mendoza’s roots.
Lastly, Hot Dog on a Stick at Excalibur has closed, another restaurant story broken by Vital Vegas this week.
