Janet Jackson is set to begin a residency at Resorts World Las Vegas near Christmas, including a special New Year’s Eve performance. This engagement will mark her second Las Vegas residency, following the successful “Metamorphosis” run at the Park MGM from May to August 2019, which grossed around $13 million over 18 dates.
“We are thrilled to announce Janet’s upcoming residency at Resorts World Las Vegas,” said her manager, Mo Elmasri. “This partnership offers a unique opportunity to celebrate her legacy and deliver unforgettable performances.”
This new residency is expected to feature a duet between Janet and her late brother, Michael Jackson, on their 1995 hit single “Scream.” This duet is already a highlight of her current “Together Again” tour, which will conclude in October in Europe.
“The energy and excitement of Las Vegas, especially around the holiday season, make it the perfect setting for this new chapter,” Elmasri continued. “Janet is excited to connect with her fans and bring her iconic music to life in a fresh and dynamic way.”
Janet Jackson, who made her Las Vegas debut at the age of 8 as a guest performer during the Jackson 5’s 1974 concert at the old MGM Grand, opted for a residency in Vegas over an offer in London, drawn by the more lucrative opportunities. This new venture could potentially delay Celine Dion’s rumored comeback at Resorts World, pushing it to early 2025, or the two residencies might run concurrently, a practice Resorts World has managed in the past.
In other Las Vegas entertainment news, “A Celebration of Life for Elvis” will be held at the Composers Room on Friday, August 16. The event will commemorate 47 years since the passing of the King of Rock and Roll, featuring performances by the band Elvis is a Punk Rocker and singer Pete Vallee as “Big Elvis.” Tickets for this event are priced at $19.95.
