Jada Pinkett Smith is savouring a sense of liberation, openly confirming her seven-year separation from Hollywood icon, Will Smith. “It’s indeed a burden lifted,” confessed Pinkett Smith, speaking about her most recent memoir, “Worthy.” She elucidated, “Following the Oscars’ intensity, we really immersed ourselves in a deeper understanding and arrived at this incredible point of progress.”

Pinkett Smith, who had opened this can of worms to NBC’s Hoda Kotb, articulates her intensely speculated marital life in her autobiography. The pair, over the years, have weathered numerous scenarios, living in the eye of the storm. Open marriage, unconventional lifestyle choices, and questions about their sexual predispositions, the couple had it all, meticulously maintaining the artifice of an idyllic existence.

Pinkett Smith, the recipient of a daytime Emmy, had initially toyed with the idea of abandoning the project which commenced at the dawn of 2022. However, the sensational incident at the Oscars, where Will controversially struck Chris Rock, left her questioning her decision to pen a book. She admitted, “I seriously reconsidered after the Oscars…I had to discuss this particular occurrence.” She confessed to feeling scapegoated for her husband’s actions, saying, “It required substantial thought for me to understand that.”

While the dynamics of the Smiths’ matrimonial life remain elusive for some – they’re still legally married but living independently – the “Collateral” actress assures they are inching towards a resolution. She stated, “We adore each other…we are amidst understanding what this signifies for both of us. There won’t be any separation or divorce. I’m not giving up on him, and he isn’t giving up on me… so, let’s halt the speculations and let’s travail towards deep healing.”

Pinkett Smith, a native of Baltimore, made her Hollywood debut in the early ’90s, an era that welcomed young, black actors and creatives warmly. She starred in films like “Menace II Society,” “Jason’s Lyric,” “Set It Off,” “The Nutty Professor” and “The Matrix” series. Struggling with her husband’s global superstardom aspirations, she admitted that the friction from their diverging dreams caused turbulence in their union. She expressed her need to share her narrative from her perspective, saying, “before Jada Pinkett Smith, there was Jada Pinkett.”

Pinkett Smith’s autobiography offers a deep and intimate insight into her life journey, touching upon her initial lessons in her grandmother’s garden, memories of growing up with drug-addicted parents, indulging in drug dealing as a teenager, and her battles with depression. She also highlights her journey to Hollywood, her creative pursuits, and her unique approach to motherhood.

The book also features her acclaimed talk show “Red Table Talk,” which she co-hosts with her mother and daughter. It was on this platform that she and Will addressed her mysterious “entanglement” with singer August Alsina, which sent ripples of speculation about an alleged affair.

In her memoir, she further delves into her camaraderie with rapper icon and activist Tupac Shakur, reinforcing that their bond was purely platonic. Yet, facing the news of the arrest of the last living suspect in Shakur’s murder, she earnestly wishes for more information.

Currently, at 52, Pinkett Smith claims she has freed herself from depression and suicidal tendencies, attributing her recovery to the controversial, plant-based psychedelic, ayahuasca. A routine of meditation, prayer, universal scriptural readings, and yoga supports her positivity.

With her memoir’s launch, Pinkett Smith is touring thirteen cities worldwide, including London, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. She acknowledges her contentment and self-acceptance, saying, “I feel comfortable in my own skin. I know who I am, in terms of my relation to the Divine… understanding that I have everything I need within me. Anything else anyone else wishes to offer me is nothing but a gift, a treasured gift! And I’m deeply grateful for it.”
