In tragic news from Las Vegas, Tizoc Antonio, an ironworker aged 37, lost his life in a severe work-related accident at the Bellagio fountain, the Clark County Coroner’s office confirmed on Monday. The fatal wound, a significant incision to the neck, was deemed accidental by officials.
Antonio was a member of Ironworkers Local 433 and had an impressive portfolio of constructions across the city, which includes renowned projects like the Sphere and Durango Casino & Resort. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police reported that Antonio suffered from a major laceration to the neck while on duty at the site. Following an immediate transportation to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada’s Trauma Center, he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.
The aftermath of the incident will see the Occupational Safety and Health Administration spearheading an official investigation.
