Police arrested a 25 year Iowa man over the weekend for allegedly stealing $62, 900 from a pickup parked at Iowa’s Isle Casino Hotel at Waterloo. The man has been identified as John Peterson.
Police stopped Peterson on Saturday as he walked from the gaming property. After a search, they found the cash and also a banned drug.
Police found money in a suitcase in the bed of a Toyota Tacoma. Police also suspected meth in the truck after finding a pipe commonly used to smoke meth in his pocket.
According to Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Peterson will be charged with first-degree theft and also possessing an illegal substance. If found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison on the theft charge and possibly additional prison time for owning a controlled substance.
Earlier in February, police seized meths near gaming properties in Las Vegas. The meth was estimated to have a street value of $237, 000. Jaquavius Trishun Powell, 26, was charged for possessing a controlled substance. Nevada US Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich says that Powell could face ten years in prison if convicted on narcotics charges.
