In a stellar performance Sunday, Kelsey Mitchell scored 27 points, Caitlin Clark contributed 23 points and nine assists, and Lexie Hull delivered 12 of her career-high 22 points in the fourth quarter to propel the Indiana Fever to a 92-75 victory over the Seattle Storm.
Caitlin Clark, breaking records along the way, amassed 232 assists this season, surpassing the previous WNBA rookie record of 224 set by Ticha Penicheiro in 1998. The top pick in the 2024 draft has consistently delivered, scoring at least 20 points in five of her last six games. Over this span, Clark has averaged 23.7 points on 47% shooting and 11.7 assists.
Mitchell was on fire, hitting 10 of 19 field goals and 5 of 8 from beyond the arc. Hull showcased her shooting prowess by making 8 of 10 from the field, including a career-best six 3-pointers out of seven attempts. Aliyah Boston was dominant on the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds to accompany her nine points and career-high eight assists.
As the game intensified in the fourth quarter, Jewell Loyd hit a jumper to narrow the Storm’s deficit to 61-60 with 9 minutes remaining. However, Indiana responded swiftly. Damiris Dantas made a free throw, Hull drained two 3-pointers within 35 seconds, and Mitchell hit another 3-pointer. Boston then capped the 14-5 run with a short jumper, pushing Indiana’s lead to 75-65 with 5:51 left.
Seattle tried to rally with back-to-back scores by Skylar Diggins-Smith, pulling within six points. But Hull’s consecutive 3-pointers, along with contributions from Clark and Mitchell, ignited a decisive 15-2 run, extending the Fever’s lead to 90-71 with just over two minutes remaining.
Jewell Loyd led Seattle with 26 points, followed by Diggins-Smith with 15 points and Nneka Ogwumike who added 14 points, nine rebounds, and four steals. Despite their efforts, the trio could not overcome a night where the Storm shot just 38.9% from the field, converting 28 of 72 attempts.
On a positive note, Indiana (13-15) matched its win total from the previous season, with 12 games still left in the regular season. Emerging victorious in back-to-back games after a month-long break for the Paris Olympics, the Fever have now won four of their last five, making a strong 10-5 run after a slow start of just three wins in their first 11 games.
