On April 7th, public health authorities had provided various scenarios for the spread of COVID-19 in the Province of Québec.  An optimistic scenario projected 29,212 confirmed cases and 1,263 deaths by April 30th, while a more pessimistic outcome projected 59,845 and 8,860 cases respectively over the same period.

At the time, Legault had stated that “We should not be alarmed by the number of deaths that could occur in the worst-case scenario. On the contrary, we must continue all our efforts to keep Québec closer to the best scenarios.”
