Hip-Hop Royalty Set to Dominate Las Vegas with ‘Pass The Mic Live’

In an electrifying blend of old school vibes and modern trends, four names that are etched in indelible ink on the mantle of hip-hop royalty – Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh – are set to redefine Sin City’s entertainment landscape with a fresh residency at Planet Hollywood’s Bakkt Theater. This new offering, titled “Pass The Mic Live”, will debut in July, promising an answer to the intriguing question, “What if rappers orchestrated a Rat Pack-style show?”

DJ Cassidy, the host and resident turntable maestro, is the pivot in this carefully curated five-man ensemble, linking the chain of legends while adding his signature spin to the proceedings. Although not charting the same heights of fame as his onstage comrades, Cassidy’s interpretation of Joey Bishop’s role in the quintessential Rat Pack offers a distinct vibe that sassily aligns with this residence.

The stirring voice of the roaring 20s, Frank Sinatra, in unity with the vivacity of Dean Martin, the versatile talent Sammy Davis Jr., the charm of Peter Lawford, and the humor of Joey Bishop, crafted a spectacle that etched their iconic Rat Pack into history. Envisioning a similar impact, DJ Cassidy made a bold declaration, “With Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, and myself stepping onto the stage, we are not merely conducting a performance, but carving out a transformational experience destined to go down in Las Vegas’ illustrious history.”

“Pass the Mic Live” holds a prominent place in the hip-hop culture, given DJ Cassidy’s successful promotional tours with various lineups since 2020. However, it has been suggested that this new Vegas installation would have earned additional applause had it been titled “The Rap Pack”. Nevertheless, the box office is ready to roll out tickets for the shows slated for July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, and 20, from the stroke of 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.

Meanwhile, the sweetheart of music, Adele, is making amends for the shows she postponed in February, due to wellness issues that inhibited her ability to toast her highest notes. Her 10 repositioned “Weekends with Adele” events, previously scheduled to charm the Caesars Palace in March, are now prepared to mesmerize fans between October 25-26 and November 23-24. The soulful siren will be returning to the stage at the Colosseum in May, wrapping up her residency in November after a record-breaking 100 performances.

Those who held passes for the 10 postponed gigs retain the golden opportunity to witness the much-anticipated spectacle before anyone else. Remaining tickets, if any, will be released for sale on Monday, April 15.

On the heels of the announcement, trumpeter Brian Newman, notable for his melodic statements in Lady Gaga’s “Jazz + Piano” residency at the Park MGM, has revealed plans to relaunch his sensational “After Dark” residency. Slotted for seven late-night dates throughout June and July, the performances promise an eclectic mix of music, song, and dance, featuring burlesque dancers, a variety of acts and numerous guest musicians, evolving into a afterhours extravaganza.

Are you ready for the music to bloom like a fire in the wild? Earth, Wind & Fire are making a triumphant return to The Venetian Theatre for seven shows in October. Sale of entry passes, starting at an affordable $59.95, commence at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12, sparking an autumnal blaze of rhythm and melody.
