In a disquieting development, Waterloo Regional Police have raised an alarm about the discovery of a push pin hidden in a Halloween chocolate bar. This concerning incident occurred in the Kitchener region of Ontario, particularly around the Rittenhouse Road or Erinbrook Drive vicinity.
The bar in question bore the Aero brand and showed tell-tale signs of tampering. Its wrapping, meticulously resealed, concealed an uninvited addition – a diminutive pin crowned with a blue knob. The sweet treat was gathered during the holiday festivities on October 31, yet the incident only came to the attention of law enforcement on November 2.
In the aftermath of this unsettling revelation, Waterloo Regional Police issued a missive urging caregivers to remain vigilant and meticulously inspect all collected sweets prior to consumption. They emphasized strongly on disposing any candy that seemingly has been tampered with. They advised insisting on sweets in their original packaging, a recommendation in place to ensure the welfare of children.
According to the police, no injuries connected to this incident have been reported so far. They are now encouraging individuals with valuable information concerning this incident to come forward.
The city of Toronto has not been exempt from similar incidents. Peel Regional Police were alerted by a concerned parent in Mississauga, Ontario, of discovery of a sewing needle embedded in a child’s Halloween candy. Alongside this, a thumbtack was found concealed in a haul of Halloween treats according to a report received by Toronto police. Fortunately, no harm was inflicted in both instances.
