In connection with the fatal stabbing of a 37-year-old woman that transpired last year, authorities have apprehended a 31-year-old female suspect in Halifax. The arrest was executed just shy of 10 a.m. on a recent Thursday morning.
The macabre unraveling began on May 17, 2022, when the Halifax Regional Police was summoned to respond to a distress call regarding an injured individual in the vicinity of Sylvia Avenue and Herring Cove Road, shortly past midnight.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they met a grim sight; Chauntel Lizette MacIntyre, inflicted with grievous stab wounds. The medical team rushed MacIntyre to the nearest healthcare facility, tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.
Later, an autopsy revealed the chilling truth behind MacIntyre’s demise. The medical examiner verified her death was, indeed, a case of homicide. Interestingly, the authorities did not consider the incident as a random act of violence when the fatal stabbing initially came to light.
Presently, the police are deepening their investigation into the matter. They firmly believe that there exist individuals possessing pivotal information regarding MacIntyre’s murder. Halifax Regional Police Const. John MacLeod earnestly added, “We hope the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. The smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.”
