Nova Scotia provincial government announced on Tuesday that certain businesses, including casinos, can reopen. The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (GCGC) announced that its gaming properties in Halifax and Sydney would reopen on Wednesday at 11: a.m. ADT.
Halifax region was shut down on 22nd April 2021 and Sydney on 27th April 2021 in an attempt by the provincial government to contain the spread of the virus. The reopening of Halifax and Sydney gaming facilities will limit the gaming capacity in compliance with physical distancing requirements.
GCGC interim Chief Executive Officer Terrance Doyle announced that the properties in Nova Scotia would start welcoming guests back. He also indicated his eagerness to see gaming facilities in Ontario and British Columbia reopen.
“We are excited to reopen both of our Casino Nova Scotia properties, call our team members back to work, and welcome back our guests. We feel this important development is a precursor to the reopening we are eagerly anticipating in British Columbia and Ontario, based on the success of the country’s vaccination program thus far.”
GCGC is an Ontario-based company founded in 1982. It operates 26 gaming properties spread across Ontario, New Brunswick, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
