Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman agreed Wednesday to a $151 million, six-year contract with the San Francisco Giants, spanning from 2025 to 2030, thereby relinquishing his chance to enter free agency after the current season.

The contract details specify that Chapman will receive a $1 million signing bonus, payable on January 15, and annual salaries of $25 million. This new deal ensures that he will earn a total of $169 million over the course of seven seasons from 2024 to 2030.

Chapman initially signed with the Giants as a free agent in March, securing a contract that guaranteed $54 million over three seasons. That initial agreement included a $2 million signing bonus and a $16 million salary for 2024, with the option to opt out after 2024 and 2025.

Currently, Chapman is batting .247 and leads the Giants with 22 home runs, 69 RBIs, 90 runs, and 33 doubles. At 31, Chapman is a four-time Gold Glove winner, boasting a career average of .241, with 177 home runs and 495 RBIs accumulated during his stints with Oakland (2017-21), Toronto (2022-23), and the Giants. He was also an All-Star in 2019.
