Pat DiGiovanni and his wife were just a few of the patrons to be ushered out of the well-known West Island Steakhouse, Forty Westt, this Saturday night, March 7, around 7 p.m.
“I was eating a lovely dinner with my wife,” DiGiovanni explained in an exchange with the West Island Blog, “when we were abruptly disrupted by a manager urging us to evacuate the building. The reason given was a fire had broken out. The whole restaurant had to wait outside before they told us to go home.”
Flames appeared to be coming from the middle of the roof that was visible from the parking lot where guests were asked to wait.
“We smelled burning,” DiGiovanni continued. “They said it was from the second floor. We are rattled but ok.”
Police and firefighters were on scene and will be investigating the fire. Updates to this article will occur as events unfold.
That’s horrible news. Is the restaurant reopened for business?
