Fig Fleurs has just opened their doors in Pointe Claire Village. I hesitate to say they are a flower shop because they are so much more. Owners Orysia and Marie are two fantastic flower gurus who can, of course, create a stunning arrangement for all your flower needs but they can also teach you to perform miracles with your own beautiful buds that you bring inside from your garden.
The shop is bright and romantic as any space might be if filled with flowers. There is an island designed for students to take classes in comfort. I joined about ten ladies last week for the official opening class in hopes of walking away with a little more knowledge on how to deal with the flowers in my life.
Change the water every two days but only after you have snipped the ends of the stems to allow the water to flow through. If it droops, then reclip and place the stem in hot water.
Hydrangea’s need to be cut before the knob not after. The knob acts as a blocker to the water if left on. Build your flower arrangments from the biggest inwards. Feels much like the art course I took years ago on perspective.

Roses must be cut at an angle and slit down the centre of the stem just a little. Roses like warm water. Tulips like cool water. Others flowers for the most part like Room temp warm water. Roses do better shorter. After a couple of days cut them down and they will last longer.
These are just a few of the tips and tricks I learned alongside my fellow bloggers from the West. There is an extensive course selection that you can choose from.
We all were happy with our final creation that we got to enjoy at home once we were done. I encourage you to take a moment and pop into this new establishment and see for yourself what two strong-willed West Island ladies can do.
I am impressed, and I will be taking more classes and maybe even plan a bridal shower soon. It is a great place to have a girls night out!!!
I was lucky enough to participate in the workshop, and I was thrilled to walk out of Fig Fleurs with a gorgeous arrangement that was perfect for my Easter dinner table! Orysia and Marie were awesome. The workshop is a great activity for anyone who loves flowers .. and who doesn’t?! Wishing them much success 🙂
The most beautiful flower is a one-off and probably not for purchase. She has not wilted one bit.
