The seventh annual Festival de la Voix produced by VOX AETERNA will be held between September 20th and October 4th, 2020. The event this year will have a twist to it as artists will be performing live on stage in front of small audiences in Lachine, Dorval, Beaconsfield, and Pointe-Claire. For those not able, or comfortable enough, to make it to the in-person experience, performances will be replayed virtually the next day.

The majority of the diverse, original lineup of international and Canadian composers and musicians has been reconfirmed for this revamped version of the annual event. We will get to see emerging and professional artists alike throughout five concerts, including 4-time recipient of the Coup de Coeur award, singer Lavanya and the Dharani project, and elementary and secondary school concerts. There will also be a vocal workshop offered by Montreal choral conductor, Roseline Blain, on the basics of sight-reading and vocal technique. For those interested in participating, there will be 20 participants invited to the in-person workshop and a virtual conference for those tuning in from home.

Festival de la Voix founder and Artistic Director, Kerry Anne-Kutz is rightfully proud of the work she has done to bring performers back to the West Island for the past seven years, and especially this year. ‘Said Kutz, “Every one of these remarkable professional artists is so happy to be back on stage, doing what they love after the past many months of uncertainty. They are devoted to creating wonderful music, no matter what the genre and committed to bringing a sense of well-being and joy to our community.” She added, “By featuring musicians and music from around the world we address our ever-expanding Canadian tapestry; a land of many peoples and cultures. The Global Visions concert gives us an opportunity to hear instruments that many of us have never seen or heard.”’

The power of music is not to be underestimated. Music heals the heart and soul. We all could use some healing this year as this festival shines a light on the beauty that we can create when we come together, virtually or in person. Please be sure to follow COVID guidelines if you choose to attend this event in person.
