In a tragic turn of events, the Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed the death of an individual following a single-vehicle collision in Middlesex Centre. The incident occurred as a commercial vehicle found itself off the road, rolling over and striking a hydro pole.
Units from Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, and London City Fire were dispatched to the location on Decker Drive promptly at 1:55 p.m. on Monday. The teams arrived on scene to find a grievous accident that necessitated immediate response and investigation.
Preliminary investigation revealed detailed dynamics of the scene. The commercial vehicle had veered off its path, rolled over, and subsequently come into hard-contact with the hydro pole. Currently, Hydro One, the province’s primary electricity provider, is assessing the situation. The timeline for the restoration of the area’s hydro service remains unknown at this point.
Sadly, the sole occupant of the vehicle was unable to survive the impact of the collision. Upon examination of the injuries sustained, medical personnel pronounced the individual deceased at the scene. In respect for the family’s privacy, authorities are withholding the identity of the deceased until next-of-kin notification.
The investigation into this saddening incident is being supported by the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team, who are currently at the scene.
