The sleepy town of Senneville saw more than its share of excitement last night, June 6, when a 68-year-old woman was injured by an explosion while collecting her mail at her roadside mailbox last night around 7 p.m. on Senneville Road between Phillips and Angus avenues.

As the lady opened her mailbox an explosive object exploded according to Montreal Police spokesman Benoit Boisselle. A 23-year-old man was walking in the area, witnessed the explosion and was able to assist the women who suffered minor injuries. The police are not prepared to provide additional information at the time of publication.

The SPVM tactical intervention group was deployed on site to “destroy” the craft. Two dog handlers, experts in locating explosives, are also on hand to conduct checks in the area.

A command post was set up. There was no property damaged from the explosion.
