In the quiet municipality of Colwood, B.C, a terrifying incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning, leaving one man gravely wounded. The local Mounties have now stepped forward to appeal to the public for information, seeking witnesses following the grievous stabbing of a 27-year-old man.
According to the West Shore RCMP detachment, officers were dispatched to the scene, a parking lot nestled within a shopping plaza on Island Highway, around the bleak hour of 2:15 a.m. There, they discovered the victim, reeling from a lone stab wound. Swiftly, paramedics administered life-saving treatment before the man was ferried to a nearby hospital, his condition critical.
Reports suggest the victim was not left unattended; two kind-hearted bystanders readily rushed to his aid. One remained on the scene until law enforcement arrived, immediately contacting the authorities and giving a statement. However, the second Good Samaritan departed shortly after the arrival of the officers.
In efforts to locate the perpetrators, the attending officers established a perimeter around the crime scene, even calling in the extra resource of a police dog. Despite their best efforts, the assailants have remained elusive. Forensic identification officers have meticulously surveyed the scene, amassing as much evidence as they can, recited a news release from the RCMP on Tuesday.
Despite the chilling nature of the crime, the authorities wanted to assure citizens: “We do not believe the public is at risk as this appears to be an isolated crime, with no other similar reports,” read the official statement.
The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement appealing to the unidentified bystander who left the scene to aid their efforts. They are hopeful this individual will come forward with compelling information to assist in solving this case.
As the police continue their systematic investigation, a lead emerged from the canvas of the nearby area. A witness claimed to have seen four individuals fleeing the car park, darting across the Island Highway in the wake of the attack.
The police urge anyone with pertinent information or dash camera footage captured from 1 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. to get in touch with the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 directly.
