Expect delays in the coming weeks if you need to drive near the Dorval interchange. Traffic on a major highway on the Island of Montreal, Highway 20, will be disrupted for several weeks by a complete closure in the Dorval roundabout area.

The Ministry of Transport explains that the closure will last until November 30 and will allow emergency work to be carried out on the two overpass bridges overlooking Highway 520.

The traffic lanes under Highway 20 in the Dorval roundabout will also be closed.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, especially by going on Autoroute 40. If they cannot, they can take Bouchard and Montreal-Toronto boulevards westbound and Herron Road and Bouchard Boulevard towards East. A detour marked by temporary signage indicates the current path to follow since Tuesday evening.

Embankment stabilization work will be carried out to allow work on the bridges to begin.

Since the interventions cause vibrations, the ministry will take no risk and close the structures to traffic. The work will be carried out continuously, 24 hours a day until November 30.

  1. They say Nov 2020, it will at least be March 31 2022, if not longer before the Dorval Circle is re-opened.
