The exact circumstances of a Salaberry-de-Valleyfield homicide of Linda Lalonde on Saturday, November 16, are still under investigation by the Montreal Police department. Police have confirmed it as a case of domestic violence.
A 38-year-old man presented himself to the police department on Saturday afternoon. It was at this time that he disclosed that he had assaulted his wife in their home.
Later that same afternoon, the SPVM signalled The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) to verify the man’s confession. Upon arrival at the home on Verner Street, the SQ officers found forty-eight-year-old Linda Lalonde in a lifeless state, later to be confirmed dead at the local hospital.
SQ spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay stated that the SQ could not determine the time of death. The investigation is underway.
