I popped into Crazy About Cupcakes on one of my many weekend adventures around Montreal and the West Island. The shop was pretty, pink and filled with cupcakes, what choice did I have?
“We also offer Nut Free, Vegan, and Gluten Free options. Our products are baked daily, and everything is 100% made from scratch with no added preservatives,” owner Tanya Bouzaglo explained when I started asking questions.
Tanya showed me around and let me taste my favorite, vanilla cupcake with pink icing. My cupcake was a mini, perfect size for me. I have very simple tastes when it comes to dessert, and I don’t like to be bombarded with flavors. I want to taste the cake and the icing – which I did. The cake was light and very yummy.
I am a stickler for icing. My Nana was from Britain and made the best icing ever so my expectations are high. Tanya, I loved the icing. I did not taste the color; sometimes you can taste the color. Thank you for keeping it simple while making it pretty.
Recently added to the menu are Freakshakes. Perfect when you get a little parched while shopping the Pointe Claire Village. The are frosty shakes in various flavors: Oreo Blitz, Saphire, Messy Candy, Hunky Chocolate and Cookie Monster.
Tanya explained that her pretty little shop takes on custom orders for cakes, cakes pops as well as corporate events. She, of course, does children’s parties as well.

Crazy About Cupcakes has received several recognitions over eight years in business: Best Design 2009 at Montreal’s Cupcake Camp, a nomination in the category of fastest growing business by www.mompreneur.com, Tanya has had the pleasure of making a mini earth inspired birthday cake for Al Gore, and supplying cupcakes to Buddy Valastro (aka Cake Boss) for his Montreal tour in Sept 2010.
