The City of Dorval will be undertaking important work on Dorval Avenue, starting August 1. This endeavour, which should last approximately three to four months, aims to:
- Facilitate efficient and safe travel
- Encourage active transportation (pedestrians and cyclists)
- Improve the citizen-friendliness of the avenue (human scale)
- Make the avenue greener
- Strengthen the identity of the avenue and the city’s entrance
Circulating on Dorval Avenue will still be possible during the construction work, but in a limited fashion. During the majority of the work, only one traffic lane per direction will be available, between Dawson Avenue and the Dorval circle.
In the end, Dorval Avenue will be fully rejuvenated:
- New roadways comprising two lanes in each direction
- Addition of bicycle lanes and well-defined pedestrian crossings
- Granite borders and concrete deck sidewalks
- Rejuvenation of urban property
- Modernization of street lighting and traffic lights
- Plantation for improved vegetation on the avenue, in order to:
- Reduce urban heat islands
- Participate in better storm water management
- Increase the aesthetic quality of the landscape
