As the 10th pick in the 2020 draft, Perfetti is not shy about his determination to fill the large skates left empty by Pierre-Luc Dubois. “It was a long layoff since the last game in February,” touted the 21-year-old, whose first two professional seasons with the Jets were cut short due to unfortunate injuries. You can see his hockey IQ and the vision that he has. He is a great passer,” Bowness stated optimistically, adding that they intend to provide Perfetti every chance to get accustomed to his potential new spot.
On the ice, Dominic Toninato made his mark in regulation for the Jets, and a reply came from the Oilers’ Zach Hyman. The match heated up in the final minutes, testing the Jets’ goalie, Collin Delia, who remained strong enough to lead the game into overtime.
The Oilers utilized their home advantage, in attempts to yield the Jets’ lead but were outnumbered in shots 37-26. A sentimental touch was added to the eventful evening as former Vancouver Canucks forward, Brandon Sutter, who had not played for two seasons due to long-COVID complications, returned to the rink. “It just felt good to be out there, and my kids were here and they haven’t seen me play in three years,” Sutter echoed.
