Former New Jersey Governor and one-time Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie is set to teach a course on political campaigning at Yale University this semester.

The seminar, titled “How to Run a Political Campaign,” will be held weekly and is open to both undergraduate and graduate students at Yale’s Jackson School of Global Affairs. According to the course description, Christie’s class will delve into topics such as communications, fundraising, and the crucial question of what candidates aim to achieve if they win, as well as the type of leaders they aspire to become.

Chris Christie, now 61, served as New Jersey’s governor from 2010 to 2018 and held the position of U.S. attorney for New Jersey from 2002 to 2008. He pursued the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 but exited the race early and subsequently endorsed Donald Trump. Christie later assisted Trump with debate preparations in 2020 but distanced himself from Trump after refusing to support the former president’s claims of a stolen election.

In 2024, Christie made another bid for the presidential nomination but withdrew just before the Iowa caucuses in January.

Christie’s upcoming Yale seminar follows a notable appearance in April, during which he emphasized to the audience the importance of truth in leadership. “Leaders in our political system have abandoned the truth because it’s hard,” he said. “It’s what we’re seeing on both sides of the aisle and, to me, that’s not what leadership is supposed to be about.”
