Callbecks Home Hardware Has Reopened For Business After A Cleaning Over The Weekend

Last Saturday, an employee at Callbecks Home Hardware in Summerside has tested positive for COVID 19. Because of this COVID-19 case, the store was placed on the list of potential exposure sites. As soon as he heard about the positive COVID-19 test, the owner Duane MacDonald closed the store and ordered a deep cleaning for the weekend.

The owner stated that a fleet of trucks and workers in protective suits arrived to disinfect the store. The store, office spaces, and outer buildings were all cleaned up as well.

Mr. MacDonald commented:

“The staff does an excellent job in maintaining and cleaning, but these guys are professionals. And this was a scenario where we needed someone to come in and make sure everything was sanitized the right way…. I was teasing the staff that this is probably the safest, cleanest building on P.E.I. right now.”

The other 60 employees all went for testing, and their results turned out to be negative. Callbecks is not the only store in the region placed on a list of exposure sites. There are other venues on Prince Edward Island that are currently being disinfected as well. As for Callbecks, ten people who worked with the man who tested positive remain in self-isolation and the store continued to operate on reduced
