Over the weekend, a burglary occurred at a Virginia campaign office for former President Donald Trump, prompting an investigation by authorities into whether anything was stolen.
The incident took place on Sunday at an office in Ashburn, which is leased by the Trump for President 2024 campaign and also serves as the headquarters of the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee. This information was shared through a news release from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Northern Virginia.
The sheriff’s office received a call about the break-in around 9 p.m. on Sunday. Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage that captured the event. The video shows an individual wearing dark clothing and a dark cap, carrying a backpack, and moving through the office, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Thomas A. Julia. An investigation is ongoing, and officials plan to provide updates as more information becomes available.
Sheriff Mike Chapman expressed the unusual nature of the crime in a statement: “It is rare to have the office of any political campaign or party broken into. We are determined to identify the suspect, investigate why it happened, and determine what may have been taken, as well as what may have been left behind.”
Emails seeking comment from the Trump campaign and the 10th District Republican Committee have not yet received a response.
